ICI Chemicals & Polymers Runcorn Site Reports Exceptional Reliability, High Accuracy and Low Cost of Ownership of ENOTEC OXITEC® Flue Gas Oxygen Analysers............Early in 1994 ICI were experiencing difficulty in obtaining spare parts and service for the former Westinghouse Model 218 Oxygen Analysers installed in the Weston Point Power Station on the Runcorn site. The power station's personnel had identified ENOTEC as a company manufacturing Zirconia Oxygen Analysers, compatible with and available as complete replacements for the ageing former Westinghouse units and ENOTEC were invited to submit recommendations to overcome the problems. Following technical and commercial evaluation of the ENOTEC proposals, ICI implemented a staged change out programme to all four boilers - this began in mid 1994 and was completed in early 1995. During the subsequent four to five year operating period both E&I, and Power Station personnel have provided a high quality maintenance programme which in conjunction with the exceptional ENOTEC product quality is reported to have resulted in trouble free operation with increased measuring accuracy, contributing to higher efficiency with low cost of ownership. Westinghouse had invented, pioneered and developed the first industrial Zirconium Oxide Oxygen Analyser, in the early 1970's, and ENOTEC has continued the tradition, building oxygen analysers for their own worldwide customers, and also under the Siemens-Westinghouse label for distribution in North America. ENOTEC have continued with the same high standards and materials as used by the former Westinghouse maintaining very much the same design, however, we have made a few improvements........... These improvements include: all welded joint probe construction, field replaceable cell, thermocouple, heater, optional calibration gas valve, full length platinum signal wire and larger cell measuring area with leak-proof gold brazing technology. ENOTEC also manufacture and supply parts and components for the former Westinghouse 218 systems, which are completely compatible and available individually or as sub-assemblies, as required.
