TXU Europe Power Limited, High Marnham Power Station Reports Exceptional Reliability, High Accuracy and Low Cost of Ownership using Enotec OXITEC® Flue Gas Oxygen Analysers............During 1995, the power station's personnel had identified Enotec as a company manufacturing Zirconia Oxygen Analysers, compatible with and available as complete replacements for the ageing former Westinghouse units installed in the boilers. Enotec were subsequently given the opportunity to introduce their improved Oxitec® Flue Gas Oxygen Analysers featuring all welded joint probe construction, field replaceable cell, thermocouple and heater, built-in calibration gas valve, and fitted with robust long life, sintered stainless steel filter elements. Following technical and commercial evaluation of the Enotec proposals, High Marnham implemented a staged upgrade programme to the existing oxygen analysers, installing Oxitec® Flue Gas Oxygen Probes, Special Interconnecting Cable and Oxitec® SME3 Series Electronics Units in all five boilers. This programme began in early 1996 and was completed later that year. In 1998, following an efficiency evaluation, it was decided to double the number of installed Oxitec® Flue Gas Oxygen Analysers, from 10 to 20 Systems, in order to obtain more representative O2 readings. During the three to four year operating period to date, during which the station has achieved Environmental ISO14001 accreditation, for which Oxygen measurement plays a major role, Power Station EC&I Engineer Denis Sturman reports that the Oxitec® Flue Gas Oxygen Analysers require little attention and typically operate for a year without requiring maintenance. He also says that with the Generating Units undergoing several load changes daily, the Oxitec® Flue Gas Oxygen Probes are subjected to extremely arduous conditions. They provide exceptional reliability with robustness and combined with the Oxitec® SME3 Series Electronics Units give simplicity of calibration.
