Applications of ENOTEC Products in Crematoriums
Since the 31st of May 2000 crematoriums in Germany must be fitted out with an emission measuring system complying with the latest German air pollution standards - 27.BImSchV. The continuous measuring of CO and O2, with flue gas density and temperature
of the afterburner zone are now mandatory while recording the actual evaluation data and archiving the results are a formal policy.
At too low temperature (<850°C), any new cremation will be prevented by the use of a suitable interlock. The measuring of flue gas density is used for the filter monitoring. With this a threshold value detects a defect of the filter and stops the
installation.
It is very important to keep the limit of 50 mg/m3 of CO as an average per hour, because of the financial penalties, which is threatened in Germany by violation of the emission limit.
The combustion process of the casket inside the oven extreme CO levels can peak up to 6000 mg/m3 spring up. To counter against these peaks there must be a fast acting and exact combustion air control, which is provided by our OXITEC® ZrO2
oxygen measuring systems.
These measuring probes are used by many different suppliers of crematorium equipment manufacturers and insert in flat bed ovens as well as in multiple-hearth type furnaces.
ENOTEC supplies solutions for measuring points after heat exchanger (Approx. 200°C flue gas temperature) as well as direct in the duct after the after burner zone (Approx.1200°C). On both measuring points, only annual maintenance is required in the
presence of the high dust density and other products of combustion, thus providing a real operational cost savings in terms of time and money.
